Summer 2010 Over

The summer is over and it's officially back to university for me; exciting, but I know there is going to be a truck load of work with my name on it.

Clothing Sculptures

Guerra de la Paz is the composite name of the Cuban born, creative duo, Alain Guerra and Neraldo de la Paz - who live & work in Miami, FL.

"Our work is based on a combination of traditional disciplines and experimentation with dimension and the use of unconventional materials. It is inspired by essential familiarity with the ready made and the archaeological qualities that found objects possesses. encapsulating an energy that reveals underlying meanings and depicts the significance of mass produced refuse on our society."

"Gaining access to an overabundance of discarded clothing - relics that once helped define an individuals personality and communally speak of environmental issues, mass consumption and disposabilty - opened the doors for us to working with garments as a material."

Every Pianists dream...

...ok maybe not every pianists dream, but possibly mine? Knowing how to play the piano is awesome enough, but these piano inspired spaces are just too cool...

A Blank Canvas

....ok well not totally blank...I've decided to delete a lot of my old posts (only keeping a few), as a sort of 'I'm starting this blog again without totally starting again'. Not 100% sure why, but I want to take on a different approach for this blog, so lets see how things go. I guess this is where I re-introduce; my blog is a space for me to be inspired and to inspire, a space of fun, art, design & fashion, not forgetting bits and bobs of my own work. Anything before this post is old stuff....
 Happy browsing/reading! :)

Milk in a new light

innovative packaging

...well packaging in a new light. Not sure who created this but whoever did was definitely onto something innovative by incorporating the typographics into the actual packaging. In terms of practicalities, I do wonder how tricky it would be to pour out the milk with all the different angles. I came across two other playful milk carton designs. Bionic

Christina Aguilera will be releasing her new album soon, titled 'Bionic'. It has been 4 years since her last album and finally on her website they have put up a sneak peak of new artwork designed by Street Artist D-face. I love how he uses a range of music related objects to construst the bionic side of her face. It also has and conjures a Metroplis vibe.

EDIT: 25/3/2010: The reveal of her official album art work

Funky Patterns

Was just watching Titanic on television for the umpteenth time. Despite the amount of times I have seen it, it's such a really good, depressing film. Easter is round the corner and I'm finally on holiday, for 4 weeks...good times!! Found these lovely, funky patterns by artist Arnaud Loumeau. Nice how each design starts off with one mini squared space and expands into visually impacting and colourful patterns. Pretty cool huh?

Apple Goodness and Wonderland

Apples seem to be everywhere lately; as much as I love apples, I'm not really into pies, especially the ones with shortcrust pastry, but I have now taken a liking to McDonald's apple pies, and have been craving them. The other day I randomly decided to make an apple crumble; never knew how easy they were to make!

Moving on from apples and sweet tooth desserts, down through the rabbit hole...Yesterday I went to my first premiere which was for Tim Burton's version of Alice in Wonderland, in Central London's Leicester Square. It was a horrible and rainy day but I managed to see the awesome Johnny Depp and saw a glimpse of Prince Charles and Duchess Camila Parker Bowles. I am also loving Burton's rendition of the main characters; very exaggerated.

I can't wait till this baby hits the cinema on March the 5th, not long till I experience the wonders and mysteries of Wonderland in 3D! :)
